Battlecruiser WiP5 by ACXtreme Battlecruiser WiP5 by ACXtreme
Update 7

USE DOWNLOAD FOR DETAILS

it's here for feedback!
...and will be replaced with the final model someday

Celebrating 13 months of progress! heh :D

The sideline was changed to repair dock with small rails and big mechanical arms, because another line of turrets was just an overkill.
The repair bay makes much more sense and this is not just a big a** capital... but also a functional heart of a fleet.

Bottom side has a hangar depot now (u can't see this from here though)
Remodeled a lot of armor.
Remodeled the side-section of the ship, (the ones that (now) have these little dome like AA-guns)
Armor added to the belly of the ship
Engines have now been 100% redone, with 10x more detail and unwraped textures (tbh the engines alone deserve a screenshot)
The "wings" structures near the engines have been UV unwrapped and retextured (bit modded as well)
Some hull has been remodeled to give the ship more compact feel (extra armor at the bottom, near the tubes and window area near the first primary turret)
A lot of empty space has been filled with detail, but there's still stuff to do.

Prolly tons of stuff more that I don't remember
Comments are welcome : )

OLD wip stuff:

Update 6
8000x2500 in download!

it's here for feedback!
...and will be replaced with the final model someday

new info:

LONG TIME NO UPDATE yazee...

Added a new sideline to the ship, with new row of cannons.
I think I might be overdoing it, but the shape really adds to the general composition.

Lots of little stuff and added a red sideline running from the front to the bridge-area of the ship.

Underside hangar is now done.

Coming up: backside of the ship detailing.

Happy Christmas and New Year!

Update 5:

NEW main turrets:
including dual-railed ion-beam cannons
and single railed (but dual-barreled) heavy proton cannon (3 of them total on this ship)

LOTS of little misc stuff

The underside has a big hangar (you can't see it from here),
had to do it because I had no idea what to fill the big empty area with.

More windows!

Second part of the hull has been UV-mapped and textured

Dockingports!

Improved lightning

Stuff to do:
Lots of textures missing
Lots of mapping still undone
Moar details
Decails and fleet-colors
More armorplating
Underside needs more love, before I'm willing to post pictures.

Please let me know what You think, I feed off the comments

=========================

○ windows!
○ second half of the ship is colored but the bump and reflection is still undone.
○ middle section textured
○ bridge got some detail
○ engines textured
○ armorplating lowered
○ misc little details
○ undeside got armorplated
○ forward section plating and details

old updates 4:
changed the serial number to C57

60% done with the texturing... some maps are 8500x8500 pixels big and it's starting to reach my 8GB ram limit.

the runaway has been remodeled to an armored heat-sink

some 250mm blasters have been relocated

the overall height of the ship has been thinned down (again)

textures compose of diffuse, reflection and bump (ref and bump are the same maps)

next up:
windows!
another 8500x8500 texture for the backward part of the ship

old updates 3:

UPDATE, feedback very welcome, since I can add ideas while I'm still building the mesh. I'm going for a all-out battlecruiser.
Stuff I usually do is more civilized but I want this to be able to deliver a message of "the time to talk is over".

At the moment featuring stuff like:
10x single barreled beam Ion cannon batteries (homeworld stile)
5x dual barreled beam Ion cannon batteries (homeworld stile)
22x 250mm single barreled Ion blaster (EVE-online stile)
~80x 60mm quad barreled projectile turrets (WW2 stile)
~20x 40mm dual barreled projectile turrets (WW2 stile)
32x capital torpedo tubes
256x anti-ship missile tubes (like on a modern missile cruiser)

If anyone has any reference pictures or ideas, please comment and let me know.
The C33 emblem will have to change since the Manta subcapital is C33 as well and lots of empty area needs details, what I think I have to pull out of my a** somehow...

The hull is 3775m long
or 3995m from the longest sensor-cluster @ front to the engines @ aft.

905m wide (wing to wing) and 362m high, from the observation deck to the bottom-hull.

love it as kiml42 said, its got something of an old science fiction look , i like the more rugged looking style like this compared to some of the more hyper modern looking stuff that is rather fragile

i also like how it appears functional , unlike some designs i see around

This is beautiful. the detail is exquisite. There's something about it that reminds of the wonderful models from old science fictions.

yes! thats the look I'm trying to go for.
I don't know why but when people still made models by hand like on the old star trek/wars, BSG etc movies... they looked more "real" then the CGI ones.

So there are two things I'm aiming for... reality and that "old school" sci-fi look
ty for the comment : )
