ahahaahah at first I had no idea what you were talking about but I see it now XD The inspiration however was very dull compared to your idea, I took mine from a gun-related design, added some wings and went battlestar galactica, with the armor.
you know how usually the turrets look "gunlike" well I was just looking at modern lasers and how the emitter was actually quite small and most of the beam production was made quite far from the final opening, so laser turrets don't have to look like guns, they should look more like domes.
I'm working on something similar for my current build. I'm going to make a complete package with fighter, carrier, bridge/compartments and launch/land facilities. Just to see if I can complete a multilevel design, and to really show people what my vision of a starship is like.
nice.. I was aiming for that Btw at first I thought I'd make a daylight scene, where you could actually see the shadow of the ship on the clouds below, but I just couldn't get the light values right, so they'd seem cool. So I just canceled the sun and went for a night scene : )
thanks for the concerns, yeah I used my laptop while it was rendering and I should have increased the cloud quality even more, what would have took even more time, but I decided to brush the noisy parts over to save time. Also I had a power outage just 30-40 minutes after the render finished, so I would have lost the render if I had waited any longer
Apparently AMD 1090T @4ghz per core(6) isn't fast enough ^^
