I have a small weekly break from the army,
decided to finish my the EVE-online starship contest spaceship refit, before going back...

The mesh was just too good to just throw away, so I made it a sub-capital.

5x capital ion-cannons
16x large dual 250mm rail-guns
68x small dual 50mm AA gatling-guns

the ship is a lot heavier, more armor and new subsystems, including a battle-bridge, extra thrusters and launch bays.

I hope you peeps like

So purrdy... Does this "Greeble" plugin have a blender counter-part? Do you ever use use blender or are you strictly a max guy?

Quick question were all those groves in the hull done with normal mapping? Also any tips for adding all those window lights?

If by groves you mean the armor lines in the hull then they are made randomly with a plugin called "greeble" and then modified by hand to fit a bit better.

If you ask about windows.. then it's maybe better if you don't ask. hehe
The problem is that I like to use vray for renders and reflections with self-illumination don't work too great in vray so I created somekinda crazy multilayer 3d max standard/vray standard and vray light material multi-material. And since I made it back in the start of the year I don't remember it 100% by heart. But I prolly used 3d max'es standard blend material with .jpg submaps to mask the vray light positions on a metal material.

I only hope I gave you somekinda vague idea what I used, so you can go and test it yourself. : )
